This exercise is the second progression in learning the technique of the forehand from the back of the court. After developing the correct racket preparation position, the player now continues the movement to perform the complete forehand motion without a ball.
The objective is to learn how to move the racket from back to front and from low to high, while maintaining a flat, straight and stable swing path.
This second progression is still performed without a ball, allowing the player to develop the movement pattern before introducing ball striking in the next exercise.
