This exercise is the fifth and final progression in learning the technique of the backhand from the back of the court. After working separately on the racket preparation, the complete movement, the first shots and the correct lateral distance from the ball, the player now brings these different elements together on balls fed with the racket by the coach.
The objective is to apply the complete backhand technique in a more dynamic situation, requiring the player to move from their starting position before positioning themselves correctly to hit the ball.
The exercise begins with a backhand down the line, before introducing two variations: a backhand directed towards the middle of the court, followed by a sequence of two consecutive backhands played in these two directions.
