This exercise adds a new combination to the left-side player’s tactical toolbox: once it has been developed in training, it can be reproduced in matches with greater confidence.
The combination consists of playing a rulo towards the diagonal fence, then taking advantage of the opponent’s recovery towards the middle to play a wrong-footing volley back into the diagonal corner.
The exercise therefore teaches the player to read and exploit the opponent’s movement, while prioritising control and placement rather than systematically looking for power.
