This exercise is the third progression in learning the drop shot technique. After practising the movement with self-fed balls, the player now learns to control a ball played from the other side of the court.
The objective is to gradually take the pace off an incoming ball by positioning the racket to meet it, until the player can catch it with their non-dominant hand.
This progression develops touch and the ability to absorb the pace of an incoming shot, two essential skills for executing an effective drop shot.
