1. Warm-up

Precision and control warm-up before the glass: aim for your opponent’s cone

This simple warm-up drill is designed to start the session with controlled shots played before the back glass, working both flat forehands and backhands. Players attempt to hit their opponent’s cone with the ball in order to win the exercise.

The players complete their warm-up with classic rally exchanges, with one player at the net and the other at the back of the court. The shots are always played under control, with the objective of feeling the ball.

The volley player varies the depth of their volleys so that the defender must sometimes play before the back glass and sometimes after the glass.

The players then switch roles so that each warms up in both positions.

To finish the warm-up phase, the players practice overhead shots with a few víboras, while the partner feeds lobs.

2. Technical-tactical work

Move up together to the net after a good lob to apply pressure and block the opponent’s víbora

This basket-fed drill allows a pair to improve their coordinated transition to the net after a well-executed lob in order to apply pressure on their opponents. They work on synchronizing their move forward, as well as executing a solid volley block

Complementarity at the net: cover the center after your partner’s overhead to intercept the return

This basket-fed drill focuses on teamwork and complementarity at the net. When your partner is lobbed in their diagonal and moves back to play an overhead (bandeja or víbora), you must anticipate to cover the middle of the court and intercept any ball..

3. Match sequence

To conclude the session, depending on the remaining time, add a match sequence with a parallel super tie-break (this allows players to remain on their usual side of the court).

The coach observes and analyzes the points played, correcting the players from both a technical and tactical perspective while taking notes.

At the end of the match, the coach provides individual feedback to each player, highlighting what they did well but especially identifying areas that need improvement.
